2.Check before purchasing that your vehicle has the ambient lighting option in the idrive settings - lighting - ambient lighting, most if not all models should have this.
3.The connector for the power on our Console Panel LED Lighting is 3 pin. If your car has a 4 pin design, you may need to change the connector. 
4. If the your iDrive system does not have 2 ambient light options (classic and sports), the console ambient light can only light up orange after installation, and the iDrive system needs to be upgraded to have the effect of the dual-color light.
